Jordin Canada On Canada Day Weekend

Today’s slate consists of three solid games, all of which should be fairly close. Some key players are either injured, or close to returning from injury, so this will be a slate that we will have to buckle down and pay attention. Let’s get into the June 28th DFS preview.

Dallas Wings @ New York Liberty

Dallas comes in riding high after a great win against the Connecticut Sun, where Arike Ogunbowale (8k DK, 5.8k FD) went for 23 points. While her price has increased, she still has one of the highest usage rates in the league, and will certainly be on my radar. The Wings changed their starting lineup last game, moving Azura Stevens (6.1k, 5.2k) off the bench. Stevens did not play very well, and only received 8 minutes. Instead, her frontcourt partner, Isabelle Harrison (5.4k, 5.8k) is a much safer play, as she received a season high 32 minutes.

New York also has some solid value with Amanda Zahui B. having recently left for EuroBasket. Reshanda Gray (5k, 4.9k) will likely start again, and is extremely cheap for the amount of fantasy production she provides. Gray will find her way onto many of my lineups tomorrow. I also like Asia Durr (6.6k, 5.3k), as the hot-shooting rookie seems to have turned a corner, and should be a lock for 30+ minutes.

Indiana Fever @ Phoenix Mercury

The Fever present some interesting challenges on this slate. Tearia McCowan (7.6k, 5.9k) and Natalie Achonwa (6.8k, 6k) actually played next to each other last game for 12 minutes. I am not 100% sure if this will occur again, as Phoenix plays a less-traditional power forward than Minnesota. It will be important to get a handle on this situation, likely by keeping track of the starters, which will be released on the Fever twitter.

More from WNBA Daily Fantasy

Phoenix presents some problems of their own. DeWanna Bonner (11k, 8.3k) is questionable with an ankle injury, and has missed practise this week because of the injury. If Bonner is out, however, it should be the Brittney Griner (10.4k, 8.1k) show, and Griner’s usage and rebounding should jump extremely high. Leilani Mitchell (5.7k, 5.7k) moved into the starting lineup with Yvonne Turner overseas, and had a huge fantasy performance in 37 minutes. She will again be a great play, so long as…

Diana Taurasi (3.2k, 7.6k) is technically listed as doubtful as she returns from back surgery. If Taurasi does play, her price is intriguing on DraftKings, despite the limited amount of minutes she will likely receive. It is not very often that such a star is a low, low price, and if she plays, I will take advantage of that. In my opinion, however, she does not return today.

Chicago Sky @ Seattle Storm

Chicago brings the usual suspects into consideration. Stefanie Dolson (7.4k, 6k) is probably my favorite play, but it seems as though both sites have put out pretty solid pricing on this team. Aside from Dolson, no one really stands out as a must-play, or even a stay-away.

Seattle loses Jewell Loyd to injury, and likely will return Jordin Canada (5.8k, 6.2k) to the starting lineup, after coming off the bench last game. Canada will handle point guard duties, and is likely in line for a huge amount of minutes. She will be on almost all of my teams. Of course, Loyd also leaves a hole in the amount of shots she takes. Natasha Howard (10.8k, 8.4k) is a candidate to steal some of those shots, and could have Ogunbowale-like usage in this game. Howard is my favorite high salary play of the day.

Hopefully we will have some solid finishes today! I will warn you that this will be the only article of the weekend, as it is Canada Day weekend up here in Canada. Hopefully everyone (even you Americans..) enjoys it!
