Reshanda Gray’s Big Day

Well, this one should be interesting. Today, we have two games on the slate. In the early game, the task of replacing Amanda Zahui B. will be undertaken by the Liberty, and in the other, we have one of the best teams against one of the worst. Truly, this will be a classic day of WNBA daily fantasy. Let’s get into it!

New York Liberty @ Minnesota Lynx

The Liberty come into this game minus Amanda Zahui B. who has left to EuroBasket. She leaves behind a big role and 30 minutes to go around. The likely candidate to pick these minutes up is Reshanda Gray (4.4k DK, 4.6k FD). Gray should step right into Zahui B.’s role, and will be a great fantasy contributor, producing 0.9 fantasy points per minute so far this year. As well, if you are into a little narrative, Gray was actually drafted by the Lynx originally.

Aside from Gray, I am also interested in Tina Charles (10.7k, 7.9k), who could see even more usage without Zahui B. Han Xu (4.2k, 3.2k) should play backup center minutes, and was a huge contributor in preseason, though she has not played a lot outside of garbage time in the regular season. $3200 is very cheap on FanDuel, and she could easily pay that low salary off, even in just 10 minutes.

Minnesota draws a great matchup with a fast-paced, below-average defensive team in the Liberty. Because of this, almost every starter on the Lynx is a viable play. My favorite, however, is forward Damiris Dantas (7.2k, 5.8k), who is coming off a 22-point, 5-assist performance against the Aces. Dantas has really unlocked her three-point shooting game this year, and is still grabbing a number of rebounds.

Dallas Wings @ Las Vegas Aces

This game is likely to be a blowout, as the Aces (on-paper) are a much more talented team, though they have not really shown that lately. Dallas gets Isabelle Harrison (5.3k, 6.3k) back from a concussion, which muddies the frontcourt rotation even more. Azura Stevens (6k, 5.2k) is such a low price, and seems to be working her way back to starter-like minutes, but between Harrison, Plaisance, Gustafson, and McGee-Stafford, it may be difficult for Azura to hit 25 minutes.

Kayla Thornton (8k, 5.9k) and Allisha Gray (8.9k, 6.7k) still represent the most consistent two options on Dallas. They should hit over 30 minutes, and have a great matchup against the high-paced Aces. Thornton in particular, is coming off of an 18 point double-double, and seems to be taking on a more offensive role.

Well, I’m going to go back to Liz Cambage (9.9k, 7.8k). Cambage is still just a year removed from being the best DFS option in the league. Though she likely will not play 35 minutes, Cambage should be able to get close to 30 minutes, which is more than enough to score 40 fantasy points. As well, Cambage forced her way out of Dallas last year, and may be extra motivated to stick it to them.

Despite A’ja Wilson’s (10.5k, 8.1k) breakout last game, I cannot recommend her today. Instead, I think that Kayla McBride (9.4k, 7.6k) represents a better option, as her outside game could be key against the Wings. There is a risk, however, that the game gets out of hand, and all of the starters play significantly fewer minutes than usual.
