No Storms in Canada

Yesterday was great! The first two games were very slow paced, and then the late game was incredible, with 190 total points being scored. Today, we turn to two games, spaced very far apart. Thankfully, the late game should not contain any surprises, while Seattle will be missing their starting point guard in the early game. Let’s take a look!

Seattle Storm @ Connecticut Sun

Seattle comes into this tough matchup missing their starting point guard in Jordin Canada. While I’m not 100% certain on who will draw the start, it seems as though Seattle will move Jewell Loyd (8.9k DK, 7.5k FD) to ball-handling duties, while either Sami Whitcomb (4.5k, 4.1k) or Blake Dietrick (3.2k, 3k) will play alongside Loyd, with either of the two occupying more of a shooting guard role. Point Loyd should add instant fantasy value, and makes her a great play on both sites. As well, one Dietrick and Whitcomb will be a great play, depending on who starts. The Storm should let us know on their twitter account around 30 minutes before tip.

The rest of the Storm is the usual suspects. Natasha Howard (11.3k, 8.3k) is a great play, though pricey. Alysha Clark (7k, 5.3k) and Mercedes Russell (5.7k, 5.5k) are both great values on FanDuel, and the latter of which is also a solid value on DraftKings as well.

Connecticut seems fairly similar game after game, but in this one they draw the below average paced Storm. This pace could be a concern, as I would expect three less possessions per team in this game versus the Las Vegas game. With that said, Jonquel Jones (10.9k, 8.4k) is basically matchup proof. It does not seem to matter who she plays, she will get close to 20 points and close to 10 rebounds. The other starters are viable as well, but nothing too special.

Las Vegas Aces @ Minnesota Lynx

Ah, our favorite team, the Aces. Since Liz Cambage (10.4k, 7.8k) has been back, they have been involved in two blowouts, making it almost impossible to get a read on her minutes. Her price is still lower than it probably should be. If she sees high twenties minutes, she should hit 40 fantasy points, despite playing against a slow-spaced Lynx squad.

A’ja Wilson (9.8k, 7.7k) has seen a huge usage decrease, as well as a huge rebounding decrease. Her price is far too high for her new role on the Aces. Instead, I like to save some salary and grab Kelsey Plum (6.9k, 6k) or Jackie Young (6.4k, 6.4k). Young has been playing close to 30 minutes, and has seemingly adjusted to the WNBA, handling the ball more and more as the season has progressed.

Almost all of Minnesota is a viable option, given the high pace the Aces play at. Minnesota should get ~4 more offensive possessions, as well as 4 more defensive possessions, compared to their season average. This makes Sylvia Fowles (10.7k, 8.1k) an even better play than usual, and it seems as though she has shaken off some rust and is performing much better recently.

If you are looking for someone a little cheaper, Napheesa Collier (7.9k, 6.6k) and Damiris Dantas (6.1k, 5.4k) present great options. Both of the two fill up the stat sheet, and should see north of 30 minutes against the Aces. Lexie Brown (4.8k, 4.5k) is also an option off the bench, and could see mid-twenty minutes depending on how Danielle Robinson plays.
