Seattle Storm waive Lanay Montgomery
By Ben Dull
The Seattle Storm have waived Lanay Montgomery.
The 6’5 center was selected 30th overall by the Storm in the third round of the 2017 WNBA Draft out of West Virginia. She graduated with the second most blocks (330) and fourth most rebounds (937) in West Virginia program history.
Montgomery logged just 28 minutes in seven games last season as a rookie with the Storm.
Though Ramu Tokashiki will sit out the 2018 WNBA season, Seattle appears to be set with its frontcourt rotation with established players. Seattle has re-signed Crystal Langhorne, its designated core player and returning starter at the five alongside Breanna Stewart.

The team made a sizable investment in Natasha Howard, acquiring the restricted free agent in a sign-and-trade with the Minnesota Lynx. The Storm also signed veteran center Courtney Paris as an unrestricted free agent back in February.
Looking ahead from this move, young Serbian forward Aleksandra Crvendakic’s chances of making the roster out of training camp may be the biggest winner. The Storm have 11 players under contract as of Tuesday plus Crvendakic on a training camp contract.
