TCU women's basketball upset Notre Dame on Friday with a 76-68 victory. It was a big game as TCU had entered the contest ranked No. 17 overall, while Notre Dame was No. 3. TCU's statement win came with plenty of impressive individual accomplishments as well. Sedona Prince recorded a 20-point, 20-rebound double-double, becoming the first TCU player to accomplish such a feat since Sandora Irvin in 2004, per espnw on Instagram.

Prince had help in the victory, as Hailey Van Lith scored 21 points and added seven assists and three rebounds. Madison Conner also had 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.

However, Prince truly had video game numbers against Notre Dame. In addition to her incredible double-double, Prince finished the contest with four assists, three steals and an attention-catching eight blocks. It was a dominant effort for the TCU center.

Prince, 24, began her college basketball career with Oregon. She spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons with Oregon before joining TCU. She immediately saw a massive jump in production after changing programs, recording 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game during the 2022-23 campaign.

Prince has been even better in 2023-24, though. Through seven games, Prince is averaging 20.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per outing. She is one of the best centers in women's college basketball right now.

TCU women's basketball emerges as legitimate contending team

It is time to take the TCU women's basketball team seriously. In all reality, they should have been taken seriously throughout this season, but they officially caught the attention of the college basketball world by upsetting Notre Dame.

Van Lith is playing well with TCU following a down year at LSU. As mentioned already, Prince is helping matters without question. Conner has also played at a respectable level.

It will be intriguing to see how the remainder of the season goes for TCU. They are currently 7-0 after defeating Notre Dame. If they can continue to play as a complete unit, the 2024-25 season will be a special one for this team.

TCU will not have much time to rest following their win on Friday, as they are set to go head-to-head with South Florida on Saturday night. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST as TCU women's basketball looks to improve their record to 8-0 for the 2024-25 season.
