The Indiana Fever officially clinched a spot in the 2024 WNBA Playoffs on Tuesday night. It has been a special season for Caitlin Clark and the Fever, something that continued as a result of this news. So how did the Fever clinch a postseason spot despite not even playing on Tuesday?

Indiana needed Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream losses to book their ticket to the postseason. Sure enough, the Sky lost to the Aces 90-71. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Mercury defeated the Dream 74-66. Phoenix also clinched a postseason spot with their victory over Atlanta.

How the Fever enjoyed a playoff-caliber 2024 season

Caitlin Clark's phenomenal rookie season has received no shortage of attention. Indiana has received contributions from the entire roster, though. Notably, Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith have played well. Kelsey Mitchell has been especially impressive in recent action.

This Fever team could create serious problems for opponents in the playoffs. Sure, they will not be the favorite to win the WNBA championship. After all, the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun and Minnesota Lynx have all enjoyed tremendous seasons. The Las Vegas Aces have won back-to-back championships as well, and they expect to compete for a third consecutive title in 2024.

With all of that being said, counting the Fever out is a risky thing to do. Clark isn't scared of the moment despite only being a rookie. The Fever veterans also understand what it takes to win in the WNBA.

Will Indiana win the WNBA Finals? It is probably too early to make any jaw-dropping bold predictions. The Fever will have a chance to make some serious noise in the playoffs, though.
