The Las Vegas Aces previously signed forward Queen Egbo to the roster. On Monday, the team announced that Egbo was signed to a second seven-day contract. The move projects to maintain crucial depth as superstar A'ja Wilson battles an injury.
Egbo, 24, has played with the Connecticut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks in addition to the Aces in 2024. She has only appeared in one game with Las Vegas, recording just one minute of action. Nevertheless, the Aces clearly did not want to risk losing depth amid Wilson's injury.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon said the team's decision to have Wilson wear a boot on Sunday was precautionary. Wilson did not play in the Aces' 75-71 loss to the New York Liberty. The WNBA MVP favorite is dealing with an ankle injury but it appears that she will be alright barring any setbacks. Las Vegas will closely monitor her status over the next two days leading into Wednesday's contest against the Indiana Fever.
Regardless, having Egbo on the roster will help matters. At 6'4", Ego can play an impactful role in the rebounding department. She also offers offensive and defensive potential. While playing with the Indiana Fever in 2022, Egbo averaged 7.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per outing across 33 games played.
The Aces would love for Egbo to offer similar production. Of course, she will need to receive more playing time in order to make a serious impact. Egbo is hoping to play a role in the Aces' pursuit of a third consecutive championship.
