This past weekend wasn't kind to WNBA fans. On Saturday, Angel Reese announced she'd miss the rest of the season with a wrist injury. The following day, A'ja Wilson missed the Las Vegas Aces' clash against the Liberty and watched from the sideline in a boot.

The Aces already secured a playoff seed, so the final stretch of the regular season isn't as critical as it is for the Sky. However, the last thing Las Vegas needs is for its anchor to be at risk of missing the postseason. Wilson has been more dominant than the Aces' back-to-back championship run last season.

It's encouraging that Las Vegas only lost by four to New York without Wilson, but the playoffs are a different beast. If the season ended today, the No. 4 Aces would play the No. 5 Storm. Seattle is sneaky enough to upset Las Vegas in the first round, with or without A'ja.

Social media rightfully freaked out over Wilson in a boot, but there's reason to be optimistic. Before Sunday's game against the Liberty, Becky Hammon said the boot is "precautionary" and didn't rule A'ja out for Wednesday's clash against the Fever.

A'ja Wilson could play in Aces' next game against Fever

Luckily, Wilson will have a total of four days to recover from the minor ankle injury she suffered in Friday's win over Connecticut. Knowing her, she'll play. Sunday's game was the first time in over five years she's missed a game.

The Aces made the right call to rest A'ja. The priority is ensuring she'll be as healthy as possible for the playoffs, which start in less than two weeks. Wilson had no reason to play on Sunday and risk a severe injury. The decision was out of her hands. Hammon said A'ja didn't argue when the coach told her she'd miss the game. The unexpected rest will be beneficial.

Hopefully, Wilson's ankle won't keep her from playing against Indiana, but the Aces shouldn't push it if she's still experiencing some pain.
