The Indiana Fever and Brianna Turner are reportedly in agreement on a contract, per the WNBA transactions page. Turner, 28, played with the Chicago Sky during the 2024 season. Now, she is set to join the Fever in 2025.
Brianna Turner joins Indiana Fever
Turner made her WNBA debut in 2019 with the Phoenix Mercury. The 6'3" forward played in Phoenix from 2019-2023, establishing herself as a reliable WNBA player during that span. Turner contributed on offense, but she is known for her stellar defensive prowess and rebounding ability. She averaged nine rebounds or more per outing twice and two blocks per outing once in Phoenix.
In 2024, Turner joined the Sky. After primarily being a starter in Phoenix, Turner came off the bench in Chicago. She started only two of the 27 games she played in with the Sky. Turner also saw just nine minutes of action per contest.
She is surely looking to receive more minutes in Indiana. The Fever have been busy this offseason so it remains to be seen how many extra minutes they have to give, but Turner should be able to help the team throughout the 2025 campaign.
Fever's busy offseason
Indiana has made no shortage of moves during the offseason. The Fever have signed veteran players such as DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard and Sydney Colson. Indiana also traded for Sophie Cunningham and Jaelyn Brown. Fever star Kelsey Mitchell signed a core contract with the team as well.
Indiana has done an impressive job of adding veterans to the roster. They feature a number of young players such as Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, so adding reliable WNBA veterans is something that will positively impact the roster.
Indiana may look to make more moves before the 2025 campaign. The Fever clearly want to make a competitive run this year. Indiana reached the postseason in 2024, but the team was quickly eliminated in the first round. In 2025, however, the Fever may be able to make some serious noise in the postseason.
Still, winning a championship is going to be a challenge in 2025. The New York Liberty feature an extremely talented roster. Of course, the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces should be serious contenders as well.
With all of that being said, the Fever are simply looking to take a step forward. Regardless of whether or not they win a championship during the upcoming campaign, the future is bright for Indiana.
