Kelsey Mitchell recently made the decision to re-sign with the Indiana Fever. Mitchell's return will be of the utmost importance without question. She shared her thoughts on Caitlin Clark after making the decision to return to the team, via Clark Report.

"I met one of the greatest people in the world, Caitlin Clark, who, like, just ran the basketball world," Mitchell said. "So I think together we hope to make you guys proud... I'm here, let's do this."

The Fever's previous decision to core Mitchell suggested that she would return. Still, she could have requested a trade and looked to join another team. Mitchell is seemingly excited about the idea of playing alongside Clark and her other Fever teammates once again, however.

Indiana made a postseason run in 2024. They were ultimately defeated in the first round of the playoffs, but it was still a successful season for the team. The Fever also became one of the most popular teams in the entire WNBA as Clark "ran the basketball world," as Mitchell said.

Clark, Mitchell and Aliyah Boston are one of the best big threes in the league. Indiana features a quality core of players, and the Fever should be able to take another step forward in 2025. There is still a chance that the team will attempt to add another star or two before the 2025 campaign. With WNBA free agency set to officially begin in February, anything can happen.

Kelsey Mitchell returning to Fever

Mitchell, 29, made back-to-back All-Star teams in 2023 and 2024. It would not be surprising to see her make a third consecutive All-Star team during the upcoming season.

In 2024, Mitchell averaged a career-high 19.2 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc. Mitchell's scoring prowess makes her a true offensive star.

If Mitchell would have decided to leave the Fever, Indiana would have needed to add another star. Although Clark and Boston are good players, Mitchell's scoring was crucial in their 2024 success. The Fever would have been in serious trouble had Mitchell decided to leave. Fortunately for the team, she is ready to return.

Indiana projects to be a competitive team in 2025. They still have work to do before becoming a serious championship contender, but the future is bright for Kelsey Mitchell, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever.
