Kelsey Mitchell recently re-signed with the Indiana Fever. Mitchell's return will be pivotal without question, but the Fever still have work to do. Sure, Mitchell is a star and Caitlin Clark is fresh off a historic rookie season, but adding another impactful player should be the team's priority before the 2025 campaign. The Fever still have one more big move to make.

The Dallas Wings made the move to core Satou Sabally. Sabally is still a trade candidate, though. The New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury have both been mentioned as possible Sabally suitors. However, the Fever could potentially try to acquire her as well.

Indiana would need to trade for her since Dallas made the decision to core her. Sabally, a two-time WNBA All-Star, was limited to 15 games in 2024. In 2023, though, she finished fifth in WNBA MVP voting. When healthy, Sabally is unquestionably one of the best players in the entire league.

Potential Fever-Wings Satou Sabally trade

A Fever-Wings trade would likely include Indiana's No. 8 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Sure, the selection is not especially intriguing, but it could still give the WIngs an opportunity to add a reliable player.

Clark, Mitchell and Aliyah Boston will not be traded in a Sabally deal. Perhaps Lexie Hull, NaLyssa Smith or Damiris Dantas could be involved in the deal. Hull and/or Smith could highlight the Wings' return if a trade were to come to fruition.

However, the Fever may be hesitant to part ways with important players in their core. Indiana's players have continued to develop chemistry with one another, and a trade may be a questionable move in that sense. If the Fever want to compete with the best teams in the league such as the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx, adding a star such as Sabally will be their best option, though.

Sabally's injury history could cause concern over a potential deal. With that being said, her MVP-caliber ceiling makes a trade worth the risk.

The Liberty and Mercury still seem to be the likeliest destinations for the Wings star as of this story's writing. It remains to be seen if a deal with either team will come to fruition, though. The Fever should at least inquire about the possibility of acquiring Satou Sabally in a deal. Making the decision to trade for her could turn the Fever into championship contenders in 2025.
