Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky were defeated by the Phoenix Mercury 86-68 on Sunday night. Reese, however, played well despite the defeat. The 2024 WNBA All-Star led Chicago with 19 points and 20 rebounds. Reese recorded yet another double-double, as she became the fastest player in the history of the league to reach the 20 double-double mark in a season, per Bleacher Report.

Reese is keeping her WNBA Rookie of the Year chances afloat. Caitlin Clark has also played well, so the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year Award may not be decided until the very end of the season. Reese has enjoyed a remarkable rookie campaign regardless of whether or not she wins the award.

Angel Reese's phenomenal 2024 season

The 22-year-old rookie is averaging 13.6 points per game. Additionally, she is recording 12.3 rebounds per outing. Reese is seemingly always on the verge of finishing games with double-doubles, and she often accomplishes the feat.

Her ability to help out on the boards while finding the bottom of the net as well has been impactful for the Sky to say the least. Chicago is only 11-16 in 2024, but they still have a legitimate opportunity to reach the postseason. They are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, trailing the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever.

The Sky should have a chance to compete at a high level as the season continues with Reese leading the way. Chicago will have a few days before attempting to jump back into the win column once again, as the Sky will play against the Sun on Friday night.
