Paige Bueckers made UConn women's basketball history on Sunday. UConn earned a convincing 96-36 victory against Seton Hall, as Sarah Strong led the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Bueckers added 18 points, seven assists and two rebounds, while Azzi Fudd also scored 18 points. In only 102 games played, Bueckers reached the 2,000 point mark, surpassing UConn legend Maya Moore as the fastest player in program history to reach 2,000 points, per espnW.

Bueckers was previously dealing with an injury but she is clearly alright as evidenced by her performance on Sunday. She continues to establish herself as one of the best players in women's college basketball. Bueckers, who is expected to be selected first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, will be remembered as one of the best UConn athletes of all-time.

Paige Buckers' incredible college basketball career

Bueckers' college basketball career is not over. She still has the remainder of this season, and Bueckers would love to lead UConn to a national championship. She also has one year of eligibility remaining at the college basketball level, but Bueckers is expected to enter the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Regardless of whether she enters the draft this year or next year, Bueckers has enjoyed an incredible career with UConn women's basketball.

She has averaged just under 20 points per game in her 102 contests. In 2024-25, Bueckers is averaging over 19 points and four rebounds per outing, while recording right around four assists per game. She has certainly played a pivotal role in UConn's success.

UConn is now 17-2 overall. They entered Sunday's game ranked No. 6 overall, and they hope to continue climbing the rankings.

What's next for UConn women's basketball?

UConn will not have too much time to rest as they are set to go head-to-head with Villanova on Wednesday. They will then play Creighton in a Saturday night affair. Bueckers and UConn then have matchups against DePaul, Butler and No. 15 Tennessee.

UConn should be able to continue playing well over their next few games. It goes without saying, but they should not overlook any opponent, though, as that is when upsets occur. UConn certainly did not overlook Seton Hall on Sunday, as they cruised to a big victory.

Paige Bueckers and UConn women's basketball will attempt to continue climbing the rankings moving forward following her historic performance on Sunday against Seton Hall.
