Paige Bueckers has played an important role in the success of the UConn women's basketball team throughout the 2024-25 season. She is regarded as arguably the best player in women's college basketball at the moment. Bueckers is expected to be selected first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft. While speaking to reporters after a recent game, Bueckers admitted that she still has room for "improvement" in her game, via UConn on SNY.
"There's always room for improvement in any and all aspects of my game," Bueckers said.
Bueckers added that she could look to get more "open shots", noting that there is "still progress to be made."

Bueckers is more than capable of connecting on difficult looks. UConn would like her to take advantage of open shots, however.
Overall, the 23-year-old guard is averaging 18.8 points per game while shooting 4.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals per outing. From an efficiency standpoint, the UConn star is shooting 53.7 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from beyond the arc. Her three-point efficiency has declined from the 41.6 percent mark she recorded a season ago, but Bueckers has still been quite reliable from three-point range.
With all of that being said, Bueckers is aware that improvement is still important. Yes, she is arguably the top player in women's college basketball right now. Additionally, as mentioned, Bueckers is likely going to be the first overall WNBA Draft pick in 2025. She is not overlooking the importance of continuing to develop, though.
Bueckers' basketball future
Paige Bueckers is set to have an extremely busy next few months. Her primary goal is currently to lead UConn women's basketball to a championship. She would surely love to win a title before moving on to the WNBA.
Speaking of the WNBA, the 2025 draft is scheduled for Monday, April 14. Bueckers has not officially declared for the draft, but the expectation is that she will move on from the college basketball level.
With a potential championship run and the WNBA draft on the horizon, now is unquestionably the time for Bueckers to lock in. It will be intriguing to see how she deals with the immense pressure of her situation. She has handled the pressure well up to this point, but the next few months could prove to be a challenge for the UConn women's basketball star guard.
