The New York Liberty made an addition on Monday. New York signed forward Stephanie Talbot to a contract, the team announced. The move will strengthen the Liberty's depth as they prepare for the second half of the 2025 WNBA season. New York's depth is already impressive, but adding another forward certainly will not hurt matters. The Liberty are preparing for a potential deep postseason run once again as they attempt to defend their 2024 championship.

Talbot, a 31-year-old forward, is an Australian player who last played in the WNBA with the Golden State Valkyries earlier in the 2025 season. She made her WNBA debut in 2017 with the Phoenix Mercury. In addition to Golden State and Phoenix, Talbot has spent time with the Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces.

She has averaged 16.6 minutes per contest in her career at the WNBA level. Her career averages of 4.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game may seem fairly low, but she has been productive in her limited minutes. Additionally, Talbot holds career marks of 42.3 percent shooting from the field and 35.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

In her 16 games played with the Mercury in 2025, Talbot averaged 3.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while recording 16.8 minutes per game. The 31-year-old started 10 of the 16 contests that she appeared in.

As mentioned, the Liberty's roster already features a quality amount of depth. Still, Talbot offers an element of versatility at 6'1". She can impact the game in multiple ways, something that will surely prove to be valuable for New York.

The Liberty are set to enter the second half of the '25 campaign with a 15-6 overall record. New York leads the Eastern Conference standings. However, they trail the 20-4 Minnesota Lynx for the WNBA's best overall record.

The Liberty will begin their second half of the season against the Indiana Fever in a Tuesday night affair in New York. Indiana has endured ups and downs, but the Fever are a team with no shortage of upset potential. Following the Fever matchup, the Liberty will play two more games at home with matchups against the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks waiting on the schedule. New York is certainly hoping to perform well during the three-game homestand.

Perhaps Stephanie Talbot can positively impact the Liberty as the second half gets underway.
