Everyone knew Caitlin Clark's No. 22 jersey would one day be hanging in the Iowa rafters after her incredible collegiate career. As a Hawkeye, she broke several records and became the NCAA's all-time leading scorer. She continued to break records in her first season in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is a household name.
The past several months have been a whirlwind for Clark after she was drafted No. 1 overall by Indiana in April. She led the Fever to their first playoff berth since 2016. Clark added a Rookie of the Year award to her trophy case.
She's spent the first couple months of the offseason relaxing and working on her golf game. Fans hoped she'd be part of Unrivaled's debut season in Miami, but ESPN reported that Clark won't.
There is one place that fans know for sure Clark will be, and that's at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Feb. 2. On Wednesday, Iowa announced her No. 22 jersey will be retired on the day the Hawkeyes will host JuJu Watkins and the Trojans. Clark's jersey will be the third to be retired in program history, as she'll join Megan Gustafson (who plays for the Aces) and Michelle Edwards.
Clark spent four seasons at Iowa. During her collegiate career, she averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game (139 contests), shooting 46.2% from the field and 37.7% from three. She led the Hawkeyes to two back-to-back national championship appearances, but they fell short against LSU (2023) and South Carolina (2024).
Tickets were already expensive for Iowa's game against USC, but they shot up because of Clark's jersey retirement.
