The Kansas City Chiefs earned a competitive 19-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday. The Raiders made a number of errors in the game which helped the Chiefs emerge victorious. With the win, the Chiefs became the first team in the NFL to clinch a postseason spot this season. Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever star guard, shared her excitement on X (formerly Twitter) following the game.
It is safe to say that Clark was excited about the Chiefs' victory.
Is Caitlin Clark a Kansas City Chiefs fan?
Clark, who is originally from Iowa, is indeed a fan of the Chiefs. She previously confirmed her fandom of the team on Monday Night Football with Peyton & Eli, via NFL.com.
"I've been a Chiefs fan since I was a young girl," Clark said. "My brother was a Chiefs fan, my Dad was a Chiefs fan. I had cousins in Kansas City that were Chiefs fans... Honestly it was just something, all I knew. In our basement we had a Chiefs vending machine. We had, like, those toy helmets that were Chiefs where you could run around in the yard and I would knock helmets with my brothers."
Of course, there are some bandwagon Chiefs fans today since the team has emerged as a dynasty in the NFL. Clark, though, does not want to be accused of being a bandwagon fan of the team.
"But I had a lot of cousins in Kansas City that loved the Chiefs... So I'm not a bandwagon Chiefs fan. I was a Chiefs fan when they weren't very good."
Chiefs' 2024 season
The Chiefs are looking to win their third consecutive Super Bowl this year. Kansas City has been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL over the past few seasons with Patrick Mahomes leading the way. Mahomes is unquestionably one of the best quarterbacks in today's game, and he's already becoming one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL.
Caitlin Clark will certainly be rooting for Kansas City to make another deep postseason run. The Chiefs are now 11-1 after defeating the Raiders. As mentioned, Kansas City already clinched a postseason spot. However, they want to clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs as well, something they will attempt to do sooner rather than later.
The Chiefs will play the Los Angeles Chargers in their next game on Sunday, December 8. Clark will probably be watching as she continues to enjoy her offseason while preparing for the 2025 WNBA campaign.
