The Indiana Fever reached the postseason in 2024. Although Caitlin Clark received plenty of attention, Kelsey Mitchell played a pivotal role in the Fever's success. The Fever were eliminated in the first round of the 2024 postseason, but Mitchell could help them make an even more competitive run in 2025. Sure, it is still the middle of the offseason for now, but Mitchell already appears to be in mid-season form.

According to the Indiana Fever, Mitchell recorded 29 points, seven assists and four rebounds to go along with five three-pointers made in a game in China on Monday. Mitchell is playing with the Shanxi Flame this offseason, and the Fever star is clearly finding success.

If Mitchell is already scoring 29 points in the offseason, one can only imagine what kind of numbers she will record once the WNBA season gets underway.

Kelsey Mitchell ready for big 2025 WNBA season

Mitchell, 29, is a two-time WNBA All-Star. In the 2024 campaign, she averaged 19.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per outing. She also shot 46.8 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc.

The Fever guard made her WNBA debut in 2018. She has spent her entire WNBA career in Indiana, and the Fever understand how important she is to the team. Without Mitchell, the Fever may not have made a postseason run during the '24 campaign.

Mitchell set to help lead Fever once again

WIth Mitchell, Clark and Aliyah Boston leading the way, the future is unquestionably bright in Indiana. In order to compete with the top teams in the WNBA, such as the New York Liberty, the Fever may need to add another star and more depth, however.

The Fever have already been linked to multiple players in trade and free agency rumors. With WNBA free agency set to officially begin in February, the Fever will be one of the more interesting teams to watch. They want to take the next step forward in 2025. Adding a player or two could help them to reach that goal.

Still, the Fever already feature a talented roster. Kelsey Mitchell has continued to take steps forward throughout her career in the league, and there is a chance that she will have her best season yet in 2025. Her play in the offseason suggests that big things are ahead for the veteran guard.
