The Indiana Fever are hoping to make a deep postseason run during the upcoming 2025 season. With Caitlin Clark potentially set to take a step forward in her career, there is reason to believe in this Fever team without question. The Fever believe in Clark, something new head coach Stephanie White recently confirmed.
"She's far beyond her years in terms of her understanding of how to work," White said, via the Indiana Fever's X (formerly Twitter) account. "Oftentimes you see rookies, even the great ones, where it usually takes three years for them to figure it out. She's got it figured out."
Caitlin Clark playing at a high level
There have been many rookies in the WNBA who have struggled over the years. Many of those rookies ended up having good, if not great WNBA careers. The transition from the college level to the professional level often takes time, however. For Clark, though, she figured things out rather quickly.
The 23-year-old averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per outing during her rookie campaign in 2024. She also shot 41.7 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from beyond the arc. Clark cruised to the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award while also finishing fourth in WNBA MVP voting.
In other words, Clark established herself as one of the best players in the league in her rookie season. Accomplishing that feat requires multiple years on a consistent basis, but Clark upset expectations with her impressive first season in the league.
If the Fever are going to compete at a high level in 2025, they will certainly need Clark to continue to play well. Although she enjoyed a quality first year, Clark still has room to improve. She can earn serious MVP consideration by finding the bottom of the net on a more consistent basis.
Fever's 2025 season
Clark and the Fever will begin their 2025 regular season on Saturday against the Chicago Sky. The contest projects to receive plenty of attention as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese renew their rivalry in Indiana. The Fever will then host the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday before heading on their first road trip of the new campaign.
Clark will do everything she can to lead the Fever back to the postseason -- and potentially make a deep run in the playoffs. She would love to lead the team to the WNBA Finals in 2025.
