Angel Reese suffered a wrist injury during the 2024 WNBA season. The Chicago Sky star later underwent surgery on her wrist. The hope was that the injury would not be problematic following the surgery, but the latest Unrivaled update leaves room for concern, via Kendra Andrews of ESPN.

"Angel Reese is OUT of tomorrow’s semifinals game due to a hand injury she sustained in the final game of the regular season, per Unrivaled. She could be seen grabbing at her left wrist in the third quarter before exiting the game — the same wrist she had surgery on in September," Andrews reported.

The current issue is being referred to as a hand injury. However, Andrews mentioned that Reese was "grabbing" the same wrist that she previously had surgery on. The severity of Reese's injury is unknown at the moment, but this will be a situation to closely monitor.

Overall, Reese played well in Unrivaled. On Saturday, it was announced that Reese earned the Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year Award. She has continued to establish herself as a star in both the WNBA and in Unrivaled.

However, Reese is now dealing with the aforementioned hand injury. The good news is that the WNBA season does not begin until May, so the Sky forward will have time to rest before the 2025 campaign gets underway. The Sky are certainly hopeful that Reese not playing in the WNBA semifinals is simply a precautionary move.

One has to imagine that even if Reese's Unrivaled team advances to the championship, she likely won't play unless it is determined that her injury is nothing to worry about. Even then, Chicago would probably prefer for Reese to rest. With that being said, Angel Reese would surely want to help her team win a championship.

Of course, her championship game decision will only become relevant if her team wins their semifinals clash. Earning the victory without Reese will prove to be an immense challenge, as Reese's impact cannot be denied.

Reese's team, Rose, will play the Laces on Sunday night. Whichever team emerges victorious will play the winner of the Vinyl vs. Lunar Owls contest, which will also be played on Sunday. The Unrivaled championship game is scheduled for Monday night.

Team Rose will continue to monitor Angel Reese's injury status ahead of the potential championship game. First, however, they will play the Laces on Sunday night in what should be an exciting matchup.
