The Chicago Sky were defeated by a final score of 88-70 by the Atlanta Dream on Friday. The loss represented Chicago's third consecutive defeat. Angel Reese, however, played fairly well and accomplished an impressive feat. The Sky forward became the first player in the 2025 WNBA season to reach 100 rebounds, according to I talk hoops.

Reese finished the game with 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists. She added one steal while connecting on four of her 10 shot attempts. It was not a perfect performance for Reese -- she finished the contest with a plus-minus of -14 -- but it was still respectable as she impacted the Sky in multiple ways on the floor.

Angel Reese's 2025 WNBA season

Reese has endured an up and down 2025 campaign so far. The Sky have struggled, earning just two victories up to this point in the season. They have played a forgettable brand of basketball to begin the '25 campaign.

Reese has continued to rebound the basketball at a high level. The 23-year-old's overall play has been less than stellar, however. She entered Friday's affair averaging just over 10 points per game on 35.8 percent field goal and 33.3 percent three-point shooting. Her 12.1 rebounds per outing have been impactful, but the Sky were hoping that Reese would improve as a scorer in her second WNBA season.

Yet, in 2024, Reese averaged 13.6 points per outing on 39.1 percent field goal shooting. Her offensive performance has decreased to begin the new campaign which certainly is not ideal. If the Sky are going to bounce back, they will need Reese to score at a more efficient level, especially around the basket.

Of course, the team's early season slump certainly is not all Reese's fault. Many players on Chicago's roster have underperformed. The Sky do not feature a true go-to scoring option. Losing Chennedy Carter this past offseason -- as she is not even playing in the WNBA right now -- has been a difficult blow for the team.

What's next for the Chicago Sky?

Angel Reese will attempt to help the Sky get back on track on Sunday afternoon at 12 PM EST in Connecticut against the Sun. Chicago will then return home for two games against the Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury. Those games will be played on Tuesday and next Saturday. Perhaps the Sky will figure things out soon and begin winning some games once again.
