Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is the cover athlete for the WNBA edition of NBA 2K26, NBA 2K announced Wednesday. Reese shared a reaction to the news once it was officially announced.
"COVERGIRL. THANK YOU @nba2k," Reese wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Reese also debuted her new signature shoe in addition to the announcement.
"Of course we do everything BIG. Why not debut my signature shoe on the cover of NBA2K ?!?!" She wrote.
Reese joins Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Carmerlo Anthony as NBA 2K26 cover athletes. Gilgeous-Alexander, who led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a championship and won the 2024-25 MVP, is the NBA edition cover athlete while Anthony is on the superstar edition (wearing a New York Knicks jersey).
Angel Reese is a star in the WNBA
At 23 years old, Reese is already a star in the WNBA. She's endured ups and downs but has found success for the most part. The Sky are trying to build a contender around Reese. Chicago is currently just 5-13 -- which has them sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings -- but the future is bright with Reese on the roster.
She is averaging 13.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals per outing so far in the 2025 WNBA season. Additionally, Reese is shooting 41.5 percent from the field, an improvement upon her 39.1 field goal shooting percentage in 2024.
She has continued to work hard on her scoring prowess. Reese still has work to do, but she is improving her efficiency within the paint.
Reese established herself as an elite rebounder a season ago, something that has not changed in 2025. She once again leads the league in the statistic. The competition is not especially close, with A'ja Wilson sitting in a distant second place with 8.7 rebounds per game.
Becoming a 2K cover athlete requires a certain level of popularity in addition to talent on the floor. After all, the game wants players on the cover who will excite fans. The good news is that Reese is unquestionably one of the most popular players in the WNBA. She reached celebrity status in college at LSU, and her popularity has only increased with the Sky at the WNBA level.
The 23-year-old will surely accomplish more impressive feats moving forward. Earning the NBA 2K honor is one that she should be proud of to say the least, however.
