Angel Reese issues honest admission on dealing with hate
Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is loved by many fans. Yet, Reese has received some criticism as well. During a recent interview, Reese responded to the hate, via Complex.
"It really inspires me to continue to wake up every morning and just keep going," Reese said. "I have so many people that do come up to me and are positive to me and say, "I love you, keep going. You inspire me.' From ages four to ages 60, like, it doesn't matter. People really do genuinely love me and I try to think of the positive before I think of the negative."
Has Reese always had this mindset? She explained how she has learned to focus on the positives, something that surely is not always an easy thing to do.
"And it took me a little minute to get to where I am right now," Reese continued. "Obviously, earlier on, I'm like, 'why do people hate me so much? And why are people so negative?' But then I looked back at it and looked myself in the mirror and knowing who I am and being inspired of who I am. Knowing that one day, people will say, 'I want to be like Angel Reese. Or Angel Reese really, really inspired me.'"
Reese has become a star at the WNBA level. In fact, she has been one of the most popular athletes in all of sports since college. She established herself as a star in college before even being drafted to the WNBA.
Since joining the Sky, Reese has continued to improve. Chicago missed the postseason after Reese suffered a season-ending injury late in the 2024 campaign. Still, the Sky displayed signs of potential. They will be confident in their future with Angel Reese leading the way.
What's next for Angel Reese?
Reese is currently preparing to play in the new Unrivaled Basketball league which will make its debut in January. The league was co-founded by Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.
Reese will participate in the league before shifting her primary focus back to the upcoming WNBA season. As mentioned, Reese is one of the most popular players in the WNBA so fans will surely want to watch Unrivaled to see her play.
Angel Reese's basketball future is bright without question. She is ready to deal with criticism or negativity thrown her way.
