Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is the face of the WNBA. She has played a pivotal role in the continued growth of women's basketball. Wilson has received help in recent seasons from young stars such as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The game is in a quality spot right now, and it is continuing to grow. Wilson recently addressed the growth of women's basketball while speaking to reporters at training camp.

"Women's basketball has always looked like this to me," Wilson said, via Taylor Rocha of KTNV. "I mean, it's always looked like it was blooming and blossoming because that's the world that I live in... It was just a matter of time, it didn't catch me off guard... When you water something and when you're patient with something, it's going to grow, it's going to blossom and you see that now. So I'm glad that we're just finally getting that respect that we've been fighting for for a long, long time."

A'ja Wilson is not content as women's basketball continues to grow

Although Wilson is clearly encouraged, she still believes there is work to be done. She is not content with the results yet. The Aces star admitted that she is "greedy" about the situation.

"But we still have a long way to go... I'm not about to be just satisfied because we're getting loved. I'm greedy. We want more. We're gonna ask for more always, like, I'm not going anywhere until we get more of what we deserve. So I'm happy that it's growing... It's just a matter of time, I'm glad it's doing its job."

Women's basketball has seen immense growth in recent years. The WNBA itself has increased in popularity, but the same can be said for women's college basketball as well. More fans are interested in the games, storylines and players.

The league should have another opportunity to take a step forward in 2025. Players such as A'ja Wilson -- a three-time MVP who took home the honor in 2024 -- will lead the way.

Wilson and the Aces will play their first preseason game on Friday, May 2 against the Dallas Wings. They will then go head-to-head with the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday, May 6. Las Vegas' first regular season contest will draw no shortage of attention, as the Aces and defending-champion New York Liberty will battle in a rematch of the 2024 Western Conference semifinals on May 17.
