Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson recently made an appearance on The Roommates Show with New York Knicks players Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. At the end of the show, they answered fan questions. One fan asked if Wilson or Hart would win in a 1v1 matchup if A'ja got the ball first.

"I feel like the score would be, like 8-11, me," Wilson said.

Hart took a moment and then responded.

"That's not happening," Hart said.

Wilson then explained if she got the ball first then that would give her a big advantage. She then asked Hart what he thinks the score would be.

"Probably like 11-7."

Brunson then added that he would "pay to see" Wilson and Hart play in a 1v1 matchup.

Hart is a good player. He has never been an All-Star at the NBA level, but Hart contributes to winning. He plays a big role for the Knicks as well. Brunson and the team understand how important he is to their success.

Wilson, however, is a consistent MVP candidate. She is the best player in the WNBA right now. Wilson won the WNBA MVP Award in 2024, as it was her third MVP win. The 28-year-old is confident that she could beat Hart in a 1v1 game.

It would be interesting to watch. Brunson seems to be hoping that the head-to-head matchup will come to fruition.

A'ja Wilson's impact on WNBA's growth

There is no denying the fact that Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese played a massive role in the WNBA's growth in 2024. A'ja Wilson has become the face of the WNBA, though.

Not only is she the best player, but Wilson is respected around the game. The Aces fell short of a championship in 2024 but they had won back-to-back WNBA Finals in 2022 and 2023. Between winning, playing at an elite level, and earning respect around the league, Wilson has contributed in a crucial manner to the increasing popularity of the WNBA.

The league is in a great position at the moment. It is continuing to expand and more people are beginning to watch and attend games. 2024 saw the WNBA shatter previous attendance and viewership records. With Wilson still in her prime, she will continue to play a pivotal role in drawing in more fans moving forward.

And perhaps someday A'ja Wilson and Josh Hart will go head-to-head in a 1v1 matchup.
