Top 2020 wing, Madison Scott, is headed to Ole Miss
There is plenty to smile about for both Ole Miss head women’s basketball coach, Yolett McPhee-McCuin (“Coach Yo”), and all of Oxford, Mississippi, as top-ranked 2020 recruit, Madison Scott, has committed to the Rebels. Scott, who is ranked as the 13th best recruit in the 2020 class, according to ESPN, chose Ole Miss over UCLA, Florida State, Maryland, and Miami.
Scott, a 6’1 wing, hails from Silver Spring, Maryland, and is a senior at Bishop McNamara High School. She also plays AAU for Team Takeover of the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). Scott helped guide Team Takeover to an EYBL national championship this past summer.

Coach Yo is entering her second season as head coach of the Rebels and is showing that she can have an immediate impact on the recruiting trail. Having already received a commitment from ESPN top-100 player, Jacorriah Bracey (No. 48), the commitment from Scott marks not only the highest ranked recruit to commit to Coach Yo, but the highest ranked recruit to commit to Ole Miss in program history. Also, according to sources, another top-40 player in Elauna Eaton (No. 41), is expected be considering Ole Miss as well.
Scott will bring a tremendous amount of athleticism to the Ole Miss program, along with the ability to play both inside and out. Scott is really good from the mid-range to the rim, attacks the glass on both ends of the floor, is quick and dangerous in transition, while also being a fantastic defender. Her ability to get into passing lanes, get deflections and steals, and also block shots, flew under the radar at times this summer. She is truly a terrific player on both ends of the floor.
As she gets set to finish her high school career before heading to Ole Miss, Scott will look to improve upon her ball handling and ability to shoot the three more consistently. One national evaluator said that if she improves in these two areas, “she may be a pro.”
Ole Miss finished 9-22 last season and 3-13 in the SEC, but while their record may not have shown it, the Rebels made positive strides under Coach Yo, and as she gets set to begin her second season, there are plenty of reasons to smile and be optimistic about the Ole Miss program moving forward.
