In five seasons under La-Force, the team registered a 46-102 (19-59) record.
A 17-13 (8-8) record in year one of the Daynia La-Force era suggested that brighter days were on the horizon. Unfortunately for them both, it only got darker from there.
After five seasons at the helm, Rhode Island has dismissed La-Force, who still had a year left on her contract.
“I would like to thank Daynia for her service to the University and wish her well in the future,” Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn said. “I am appreciative of Daynia’s efforts with the program as well as the local community.”

The team lost in the first round of the A10 tournament last week, putting their final record this season at 8-21 (3-13).
“I would like to thank President Dooley and Thorr Bjorn for the opportunity to rebuild the women’s basketball program here at URI,” said La-Force. “It has been an honor to coach and mentor the young women in our program and represent the great people of Rhode Island. I will treasure this experience as I turn the page to the next chapter in my coaching career.”
La-Force, the first minority woman head coach in Rhode Island history for any sport, came to the school after serving as the head coach at Northeastern University for eight seasons. For her career, including a short stint at D2 New Haven, La-Force’s overall career record is now 158-263.
