The Aggies forward takes home yet another weekly honor.

UC Davis’ Morgan Bertsch was named the Big West Player of the Week for games played last week. It is the sixth time this season that Bertsch has taken home the weekly honors, and the ninth time overall she’s won the award.

Being named player of the week six times in a season ties the Big West Conference record. The only other two players who won the award at least six times in a season was Genia Miller of Cal State Fullerton during the 1990-91 season, and UC Riverside’s Brittany Crain during the 2015-16 season.

In the two games UC Davis played last week, both road wins, Bertsch averaged 25.5 points per game on 62 percent shooting from the field, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 blocked shots.

In the Aggies 66-49 win over Long Beach State, Bertsch finished with 25 points on 62.5 percent shooting from the field, six rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals. She followed that up with 26 points on 61.1 percent shooting, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.

More from Big West

Bertsch has been one of the most dominant players in the Big West this season. She’s had a breakout year as a senior, averaging 24.0 points per game while shooting 50.1 percent from the floor, 51.4 percent from the three-point line, 81.9 percent from the free-throw line, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocked shots.

She is a very versatile scorer that can play in the low post, but she can also put the ball on the floor and attack her defender off the dribble as well as step back and shoot from distance. She’s also a good interior defensive anchor. She’s helped lead UC Davis to a season-high 12 game win streak.

The Aggies will wrap up conference play this week with two home games against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and UC Santa Barbara.
