What happens in free agency and trades will change the draft.

Well, that was a quiet week in WNBA land, wasn’t it?

Liz Cambage, demanding to be traded. The New York Liberty, officially sold. This, on the heels of the Minnesota Lynx and Maya Moore in, at the very least, a period of uncertainty, with nothing from Minnesota or Moore yet about whether sitting out, asking for a trade, retiring or continuing forward is the pathway Moore will pursue.

What it means for us here at High Post Hoops, as we talk to everyone around the league and watch hours upon hours of game film, is that a crazy process gets even harder to manage.

The Aces, for instance, will be in on Liz Cambage, meaning that projecting the number one overall pick, which would almost certainly have to be part of any Cambage package Las Vegas sends to Dallas, becomes exponentially harder.

More from WNBA

The Liberty, with new ownership, might be looking to make a splash. And how does Cheryl Reeve build without the certainty of Maya Moore?

That’s before we even take into account those possible early-entry candidates — not just Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu, but talented, coveted players like Destiny Slocum of Oregon State and Notre Dame’s Jackie Young are part of contingency plans on draft boards across the WNBA.

So what’s the best approximation of the state of play right now, on free agency’s eve? Let’s take a look. Stats courtesy of HerHoopStats unless otherwise noted.
