The Phoenix Mercury have signed 6’6 center Angel Robinson and waived Imani Wright, the team announced Tuesday.

The Mercury opted to open the season with 11 players on their active roster including Wright, the 26th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, and 12th overall pick Marie Gulich. Wright logged just one minute at the end of the team’s 87-71 loss to the Seattle Storm last week. Gulich played 18 minutes in the team’s first three regular season games as the backup to All-WNBA center Brittney Griner, but did not play in Sunday’s loss in Los Angeles.

The league website showed that Wright had been waived on Monday. Phoenix needed to act swiftly to meet the league’s minimum roster size of 11. They will host the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night (10 ET, League Pass).

Robinson played in 15 regular season games last season for the Mercury, starting eight of them when Griner missed time due to injury. The Mercury originally acquired Robinson’s rights in a trade with the Storm in June of 2016 that sent Noelle Quinn to Seattle.

Robinson was selected 20th overall in the second round of the 2010 WNBA Draft out of Georgia by the Los Angeles Sparks. She made her debut in 2014 with the Storm, playing in 25 games and drawing one start. Robinson logged 17 minutes in three playoff games for the Mercury last season.
