Chicago Sky sign Ameryst Alston
By Ben Dull
The Chicago Sky have signed Ameryst Alston to a training camp contract.
Alston was selected 24th overall by the New York Liberty out of Ohio State in the second round of the 2016 WNBA Draft. The 5’9 guard scored over 2,000 points in her career at Ohio State, where she was a three-time All-Big 12 selection.
Alston appeared in three games in her two short stints with the Liberty in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
Chicago figures to be a tough roster to crack as a training camp invitee. The Sky have 12 players currently under contract for 2018 and hold two first round draft picks.

The Sky return a backcourt of Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley along with All-Star center Stefanie Dolson. Quigley was cored and re-signed this offseason. Dolson, a restricted free agent, re-signed with the Sky this offseason as well.
Chicago has also signed 2017 No. 2 overall pick Alaina Coates, who missed the entire 2017 WNBA season (ankle).
More specific to Alston’s situation, the Sky have two young guards under contract already in Jamierra Faulkner and Makayla Epps.
