The Indiana Fever have re-signed six-time WNBA All-Star Candice Dupree to a multi-year contract.

Dupree was acquired by the Fever prior to last season in a three team trade with the Phoenix Mercury and Connecticut Sun.

Dupree spent her first four seasons in Chicago after being selected sixth overall in the 2006 draft by the Sky out of Temple. She was dealt to Phoenix prior to the start of the 2010 season.

Dupree started every game for the Mercury in their 2014 championship season. She shot 13-17 in Game 1 of the 2014 Finals, then delivered 24 points and six assists in Game 3 as the Mercury clinched a sweep of Dupree’s former team.

Dupree averaged 15 points, 5.8 rebounds and and shot 49.4% from the field in her first season with the Fever. She was named an All-Star for the fourth consecutive season.

Indiana head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman said the following on Tuesday in a team release:

"We are ecstatic Candice will continue her impressive career with us. Her experience, efficiency, versatility, high IQ and ability to put her voice and actions on the process of success is vital. Simply put, she is an All-Star and a champion!"

In last year’s three team trade, the Fever received a 2017 second round pick along with Dupree. Lynetta Kizer and the Fever’s 2017 first round pick went to Connecticut, and Phoenix received Camille Little and Jillian Alleyne.

Little was the starting power forward for the Mercury last season, and was re-signed by the club this offseason.

The Fever also made a trade Tuesday, sending longtime starting point guard Briann January to Phoenix in exchange for the eighth overall pick in the upcoming draft.

Indiana designated Dupree as its core player at the start of the 2018 offseason. As of Tuesday, Tina Charles of the New York Liberty is the only core player that remains unsigned.
