The Las Vegas Aces announced three signings late Monday night. The Aces have re-signed Sequoia Holmes and Cierra Burdick. The team also has signed Ivey Slaughter.

Holmes, though she will turn 32 this summer, was a reserved free agent this offseason, meaning the Aces had exclusive negotiating rights with her. Holmes signed a training camp contract with the San Antonio Stars last season and made the roster. She appeared in 27 games, drawing three starts and logging 11.3 minutes per game.

Holmes was no stranger to training camp invites — it’s how she originally made it in the league. Holmes signed a training camp contract with the Houston Comets in 2008, made the team and appeared in 17 games.

She was then selected by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2008 dispersal draft after the Comets folded. The Mercury later renounced her rights prior to the start of training camp in 2009. Holmes signed a training camp contract with the Detroit Shock. Current Aces head coach and president of basketball operations Bill Laimbeer was the head coach of the Shock at the time.

Holmes did not make the Shock roster in 2009. She signed back with the Mercury in 2010, appearing in 15 games in her second WNBA season. Holmes also is no stranger to the Las Vegas area. She starred at UNLV for four seasons, earning Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2007 as a junior.

Burdick, a three year pro out of Tennessee, split time between New York and San Antonio in 2017. She appeared in six games for the Liberty then was waived in late June. Laimbeer was the head coach of the Liberty for each of the past five seasons before accepting his current position with the Aces this offseason.

Burdick signed two consecutive seven day contracts with the Stars, appearing in four games. She was selected by the Atlanta Dream with the 14th overall pick in the 2015 draft. Burdick played in 11 games as a rookie. After appearing in eight games in her second season, the Dream waived Burdick during the 2016 season.

Slaughter, a 6’1 forward, graduated from Florida State in 2017. She participated in training camp with Laimbeer in New York prior to the start of last season. Slaughter logged 31 minutes in two preseason games before being waived by the Liberty.

The Aces roster now stands at 11. The team is yet to re-sign current restricted free agent and 2015 All-Star Kayla McBride. McBride appeared alongside point guard Moriah Jefferson at a recent event for season ticket holders and because she is a restricted free agent, the Aces can match any offer that she could sign with another team.
