What Kim Mulkey has been able to accomplish with the Lady Bears is outstanding. Baylor is the 2017-18 Big 12 women’s basketball regular season champions. The title is the eighth-straight and ninth overall for the Lady Bears. They finished undefeated in conference, with 18 wins.

For the last couple of years it has been a battle for that number one spot, but Baylor has been successful every time. They have secured the No. 1 seed in the tournament while Texas will come in at No.2. In my preseason preview, I had Texas finishing ahead of Baylor because of the players they had coming back. But, one thing I have learned is that the Baylor Bears are going to put up a fight every time.

So much has gone on in the course of this Big 12 season. With star players getting hurt, to coaches getting fired.. it has been nothing short of unpredictable. The most recent occurrence was Baylor point guard Kristy Wallace injuring her knee in their Monday night win against West Virginia. Although there is no official word on her injury, head coach Kim Mulkey said that it is not looking good for the senior. Her absence will definitely make an impact on how far this team will go.
The great thing about this conference is that every game has the potential to be a battle. TCU came up with big back-to-back wins against Texas and West Virginia. While Oklahoma State has had their ups and downs, they have found a way to remain steady throughout. The sleeper team of the conference is the Oklahoma Sooners. Although their numbers don’t really stand out, the grit they display makes them a tough matchup every night.
