WNBA teams and players were allowed to begin negotiating deals January 15, but those deals can officially be signed now that the calendar has turned to February. Here’s a running log of what we know from Wednesday, February 14, the ninth day of WNBA free agency:

Fever sign Ben Abdelkader

The Indiana Fever signed 22-year-old Hind (rhymes with wind) Ben Abdelkader (ben-ab-DEL-kuh-dair), a guard from Belgium currently playing in the Turkish League. The 5’8 sharpshooter has played professionally in four different countries and for the Belgian National Team.

Dantas back with Dream

The Dream re-signed Damiris Dantas, a young forward that was acquired by the team back in 2015 as part of the Sylvia Fowles blockbuster trade. Dantas, just 25, was the team’s backup power forward in 2017 behind Sancho Lyttle.

Cappie to LA

One of the biggest names in the 2018 free agent class has found a home for the upcoming season — unrestricted free agent Cappie Pondexter has signed with the Los Angeles Sparks. The dynamic guard further solidifies Brian Agler’s backcourt rotation that already features Chelsea Gray, Odyssey Sims, Riquna Williams and Sydney Wiese.
