Indiana Fever sign Hind Ben Abdelkader

The Indiana Fever have signed Hind Ben Abdelkader, a 5’8 guard from Belgium currently competing in the Turkish League.

Ben Abdelkader, just 22, played for the University of California, Berkeley for just one season (2013-2014) before returning to Europe. She currently plays for Hatay in the Tuskish League alongside Courtney Paris of the Seattle Storm and Leilani Mitchell of the Phoenix Mercury.

Ben Abdelkader leads Hatay in scoring in Turkish League contests at 17.2 points per game. Erica Wheeler, fellow member of the Fever, is also near the top of the Turkish League scoring charts at 17.6 points per game.

Ben Abdelkader has played professionally in Spain, France, Poland and Turkey. She has competed for the Beglian National Team since 2010. She was the MVP of the 2011 U16 European Championships and has been the leading scorer for Belgium in each of her European Championship appearances.

The Fever re-signed Wheeler earlier this offseason. Indiana acquired Kayla Alexander in a trade with the Las Vegas Aces.

The Fever also re-signed Jennifer Hamson, Jennie Simms, Jeanette Pohlen-Mavunga and Shenise Johnson.

2018 designated core player Candice Dupree remains unsigned as of Wednesday afternoon.
