The Fever announced the moves Tuesday afternoon. Hamson was a reserved player, giving the Fever exclusive negotiating rights as her prior team. Simms was listed as an unrestricted free agent on WNBA.com.

Both players joined the team midway through the 2017 WNBA regular season and saw limited time off the bench for head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman.

Simms was selected by the Washington Mystics with the 18th overall pick in the second round of the 2017 WNBA Draft out of Old Dominion. Simms appeared in 10 games for the Mystics off the bench before being waived in July. The Fever signed Simms to a replacement player contract in August after three members of the team had suffered season-ending injuries.

Hamson appeared in 25 games in 2015 for the Los Angeles Sparks, also drawing two starts as a rookie. She played collegiately at BYU and was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the second round of the 2014 WNBA Draft by the Sparks. Hamson, 6’7, was also a standout volleyball player at BYU. She delayed her rookie season by a year to play her final season of volleyball for BYU during the 2014-2015 school year.

Hamson competed for a roster spot with the Connecticut Sun in their 2017 training camp. She signed on with the Fever in early July. Hamson appeared in 12 games for Indiana, averaging 7.2 minutes per game.
