“There isn’t a harder working player in the WNBA than Tamera Young,” said president of basketball operations and head coach Bill Laimbeer in Thursday’s release provided by the team. “She leads by example in that category, and gives us a veteran to help with our young team. We need a bigger emphasis on defense, and Tamera is an outstanding defender.”
Young split time last season between Chicago and Atlanta. Young was the starting three for Amber Stocks and the Sky before being traded to the Dream along with Imani Boyette and a second round pick in exchange for Atlanta’s 2018 first round pick.
Young logged time at both forward spots in Chicago, but her playing time took a hit down the stretch of the regular season with the Dream. The 10-year veteran was drafted eighth overall in the 2008 WNBA Draft by Atlanta. She was traded to Chicago in 2009 for Armintie Price.
Young has played in 16 playoff games in her career. Most notably, she logged nearly 30 minutes per game for the Sky in 2014 during their run to the WNBA Finals.
