Both of these players have earned multiple weekly honors this season, and are still putting in work through conference play. Bridget Carleton grabbed her third honor this season averaging 29.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 58.3% (7-of-12) from 3-point range. This honor marks the 10th Big 12 weekly honor for the Chatham, Ontario, Canada native, which ranks first in school history and tied for eighth in Big 12 history.
The junior connected on 16-of-22 (72.2%) from the floor and netted 39 points in Iowa State’s road win at No. 19 Oklahoma State. She became only the sixth Big 12 player since 1999-2000 to score 39+ points and grab 9+ rebounds in a league contest.
Shania Pellington earned her second consecutive freshman of the week honor, third of the season. The freshman averaged 18.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds last week. In a narrow loss at No.24 TCU, Pellington tallied 19 points and three rebounds. She poured in 17 points, had three assists, and two steals in OU’s victory over Kansas. The Pickering, Ontario, native ranks second nationally among Division I freshmen with a .517 field goal percentage.
With this being both Carleton and Pellington’s third honor of the season for stellar their performances, you can start to make a case for their respective player of the year campaigns.
Iowa State is in action tonight against No.22 TCU, while Oklahoma will host K-State on Wednesday at 10:30 am (FS Oklahoma).
