The first week of conference play saw Villanova drop its first game to Creighton 69-54 before bouncing back with a 63-55 win over Providence. Meanwhile, DePaul, Creighton, Marquette, and Xavier start 2018 undefeated in conference play. All four teams are represented on the latest BIG EAST weekly honors list.

The Blue Demons opened BIG EAST play with two wins thanks to a career-first against Seton Hall on Thursday. Her 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists marked the first triple-double and nearly got another in Saturday’s 76-67 win over St. John’s. The sophomore averaged 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists over two games.
Freshman of the Week: Lauren Van Kleunen, Marquette, R-Fr., G
Van Kleunen earns her second Freshman of the Week honor by averaging 10.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and .563 shooting in two wins for the Golden Eagles. The guard notched her first double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in an OT win over the St. John’s.

Allazia Blockton, Marquette, Jr., G
The Golden Eagles went 2-0 mark behind Blockton’s weekly average of 24.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. She tallied 29-point alone against Seton Hall on Saturday.
Audrey Faber, Creighton, Jr., F
Faber averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and .630 shooting in two Creighton wins. Including a 19-point, five-rebound performance to hand Villanova (18) its first loss of the season.
Kindell Fincher, Xavier, R-Jr., G
Fincher collected 20 points and seven boards in the win over Butler on Friday. The Fort Wayne, Indiana native shot 50% from the field and the three-point arc.
Mary Gedaka, Villanova, So., G
Gedaka went 11-of-12 at Providence on Saturday and averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds over two games.
Dionna White, Georgetown, Jr., G
White netted 25 points and brought down eight boards in a convincing 75-43 win over Providence. The junior guard averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals in a 1-1 week for Georgetown.
