Pierre-Louis, Muldrow take home Big 12 player of the week honors

The Big 12 conference has announced their second week of honors. For the first time this season, the conference has selected co-players of the week. Oklahoma’s Vionise Pierre-Louis and West Virginia’s Teana Muldrow both grabbed the honor by posting double-doubles in week two.

Pierre-Louis averaged 19.5 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks in OU’s two games last week. The senior scored 25 points and tied her career high with 16 rebounds at DePaul last Monday, before recording 14 points and six rebounds in just 17 minutes against SMU Friday night. She became the first player since Courtney Paris to earn back-to-back 20 point double-doubles to start a season.
Pierre-Louis is leading the Sooners thus far averaging 21 points and 11.3 rebounds in their first three games.
Pierre-Louis is joined by senior forward Teana Muldrow. Muldrow posted her 12th career double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Sacramento State. Her defensive presence help set a WVU program record by holding the Hornets to 7.7% shooting in the first quarter.
The New Jersey native averaged 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to improve the Mountaineers to 3-0 as the team wrapped up a three-game homestand.
An new face in town has claimed her first freshman of the week honor. Kansas State’s Rachel Ranke led the team in scoring in all three wins during the week. Ranke registered back-to-back 20 point games to help lead head coach Jeff Mittie to his first 4-0 start in Manhattan.
The freshman leads K-State in points 16.8 ppg, while also sneaking 2 steals per game.
All of the Big 12 teams are gearing up for their Thanksgiving tournaments. Oklahoma travels to Colorado State Tuesday at 8pm, while West Virginia will head to Florida to take on Drexel Friday at 2:30pm. Las Vegas will welcome Rachel Ranke as the Wildcats are set to battle it out against No. 5/7 UCLA on Friday at 3:15pm.
