All-Big 12 Preseason awards have been announced

What’s a new season without some preseason honors. The Big 12 announced its 2017-2018 preseason All-Big 12 team, and it includes some very familiar names.

For the first time in her career, Kalani Brown, of the Baylor Bears was selected as the preseason player of the year. Last season she averaged 15.4 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Brown is joined on the preseason All-Big 12 Team with Kaylee Jensen of Oklahoma State, Ariel Atkins of Texas, Brooke McCarty of Texas and Tynice Martin of West Virginia. All five honorees were also named to last season’s All-Big 12 First Team at the conclusion of the regular season.
The Texas Longhorns added some more players to the award list as Chasity Patterson was named the Preseason Freshman of the Year and South Carolina transfer Jatarie White was tabbed the Preseason Newcomer of the Year.

In addition to the All-Big 12 honors, Lauren Cox (Baylor), Kristy Wallace (Baylor), Bridget Carleton (Iowa State), Maddie Manning (Oklahoma) and Vionise Pierre-Louis (Oklahoma) were all recognized as preseason Big 12 honorable mention.
These awards were chosen by the head coaches of the Big 12, and they were not allowed to vote for their own players.
