The Minnesota Lynx have signed forward Cecilia Zandalasini for the remainder of the season, the team announced Monday afternoon.

More from High Post Hoops

Zandalasini represented Italy in FIBA EuroBasket 2017 last month, where she ranked second in scoring with 19.0 points per game. She also shot 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range.

Zandalasini played in 36 Italian League games this season for her club team, Famila Schio, posting 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest. She averaged double-figures in the postseason as she led Famila Schio to the league finals.

With just three games remaining in the WNBA regular season, Zandalasini could provide a much-needed lift for the Lynx. They’ve seen their grip on the top seed in the WNBA Playoffs loosen over the last few weeks as injuries have weakened what once appeared to be the best team in the league. Minnesota lost by 11 on Sunday night to a Los Angeles Sparks team that now trails them by just half a game for the best overall record in the WNBA.

With Rebekkah Brunson working her way back into pre-injury form and Lindsay Whalen out likely for the remainder of the regular season, Zandalasini will provide some depth. And if this video from FIBA is any indication, she’ll add a little flare as well.

Minnesota will visit Indiana Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. The game will be streamed on Twitter.
