The New York Liberty’s Tina Charles and Los Angeles Sparks’ Candace Parker have been named WNBA Players of the Week.

Oh, you have heard it? That would make sense. Charles has been named Player of the Week in the East six times this season and a WNBA-record 27 times in her career. Parker has now won the award four times this season and 22 times in her career.

While this may be nothing new, the honors are no less deserved. Charles led the hottest team in the league to three wins last week, averaging 18.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. The Liberty have now won eight in a row and secured at worst the 4 seed in the WNBA Playoffs with two games remaining.

Out west, Parker and the Sparks also went 3-0 last week, including a win over the Minnesota Lynx in a 2016 finals rematch and clash of the two best teams in the WNBA. She posted a line of 16.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists over those three games. Parker’s best effort came in that showdown against the Lynx — she had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go with three assists in the 84-67 victory. The Sparks are now only half a game behind Minnesota for the top overall seed.

Tiffany Hayes and Elizabeth Williams (Dream), Stefanie Dolson (Sky), Alyssa Thomas (Sun), Skylar Diggins-Smith (Wings), Nneka Ogwumike and Odyssey Sims (Sparks), Brittney Griner (Mercury), and Elene Delle Donne and Emma Messeman (Mystics) were also considered for Player of the Week.
