While NFL news is at a minimum during the summer, many sports websites devote about 30 percent of their coverage to The Bachelorette. An additional 45 percent often goes to Game of Thrones.

At The Summitt, we have chosen to cover actual sports — women’s basketball, to be specific. Yet sometimes even we can’t escape the pull of The Bachelorette.
This happens to be one of those times, as this season’s bachelorette Rachel Lindsay will be the guest of honor on Thursday night in Dallas when the Wings host the Phoenix Mercury. Her new fiancée, Bryan Abasolo, will join her courtside for the game.
Before tipoff, Lindsay will deliver the game ball to the officials and be introduced to the crowd, not that the Dallas native needs any sort of introduction.
Lindsay is known for being an avid sports fan (so I’m told, though I don’t actually watch the show. I devote my free time to more fulfilling endeavors.). She earned a degree in sports management at Texas, then studied sports law at Marquette. She also played basketball and ran track at Dallas First Baptist Academy.
The Wings and Mercury will tip off at 8 p.m. ET and the game will air on ESPN2. A postgame rose ceremony has not been confirmed.
Please direct all your takes on how Lindsay should not have chosen Abasolo to Summitt editor-in-chief Howard Megdal.
