In-game coach interviews have always been a weird thing.

I get why they happen. In theory, it is a good way to give viewers an inside look at what the coach thinks of the game in real time: what adjustments need to be made? How do you stop X player? How do you get X more involved in the offense?

In reality, they’re rarely insightful, as coaches in the heat of the game can feel like they have more important things to do than answer a reporter’s questions. The results, made famous by Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, are sometimes hilarious.

Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve did her best Pop impression on Thursday during the Lynx’ game against the Atlanta Dream.

Behold:

LaChina Robinson is great at what she does, but sometimes when conducting an interview, your subject simply gives you nothing to work with. It was probably awkward for her, but was great TV for everyone else.

It was a classic interview, but Reeve still has a ways to go if she wants to reach Pop level of sideline trolling. Here’s some of his finest:

Robinson and Reeve, however, had a slightly different take on the interview. Rather than comparing it to Popovich, they thought it appropriate to draw from former White House press secretary Sean Spi- Melissa McCarthy.

When asked what Reeve thought of the Pop comparison, she had the perfect answer:

“No comment.”
