Guard Allison Hightower has signed a seven-day contract with the Washington Mystics, the team announced on Friday.

The WNBA veteran has not played in the league since 2014, having spent the past two seasons battling injury and recovering from knee surgery. She did, however, play five seasons with the Connecticut Sun and was selected to the WNBA All-Star team in 2013.

Over 114 career games, Hightower, a former second-round pick, has averaged 6.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. The former LSU Tiger is also an 81.6 percent free-throw shooter.

While Hightower has been on the sidelines for some time, it should not come as a surprise that the Mystics made a move. The team waived guard Jennie Simms on Thursday, the same day that the team learned Natasha Cloud would be out at least two games with a partial plantar fascia tear. All of this follows Tayler Hill’s ACL tear, which will bench her for the rest of the season.

With all of the roster turnover, Hightower should get her share of chances at extending her time in Washington. Fittingly, the team’s next game is Friday night at home against the Sun, her former team. The game will tip at 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBATV.
