In a surprising move, the Dallas Stars this afternoon removed center Courtney Paris from their injury report. Paris was seen warming up before Dallas’ home matchup against the Atlanta Dream, and is officially not on the team’s injury report.
About one month ago, the Stars announced knee surgery for the veteran center, with a 6-8 week expectation for recovery. The injury left Dallas severely depleted on the front line, though they have managed to stay afloat in the Western Conference thanks in large part to a prolific month for top scorer Glory Johnson. Dallas is now nearing a fully healthy roster.
Last year for Dallas, Paris averaged 7.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, though the Stars struggled throughout the season. The team is hoping her return can give them the momentum they need with a full squad.
The eight-year veteran ought to see the court tonight, but is not in the team’s starting lineup. After an impressive recovery time, it would not be shocking to see Paris’s return be taken slowly in Dallas. Another injury would be terrible for both player and team.
The Stars and Dream play tonight in Dallas. The game is broadcast on WNBA League Pass, though the game is sure to garner additional interest as a result of Paris’s return. Stay tuned at The Summitt for major updates as well.
