The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Connecticut Sun by a final score of 88-77 in Game 5 of the WNBA Semifinals on Tuesday night. Minnesota clinched a spot in the WNBA Finals with the victory, as they will go head-to-head with the talented New York Liberty. Although Connecticut made things interesting, their 2024 season is now officially over.

The Sun would love to compete once again in 2025, but they will have work to do during the offseason. Two star players could depart during the offseason as well. Here are two players who won't be back next year following the Sun's loss against the Lynx.

2. DeWanna Bonner

Bonner is still one of the better players in the WNBA at 37 years old. She is set to enter free agency during the offseason and will likely draw interest from around the WNBA.

At 37 years old, though, there is a chance that Bonner may retire. Nothing is guaranteed as of this story's writing. If she decides to continue playing, the Sun will have competition in reference to trying to re-sign her.

Bonner averaged 15 points per game this past season. She led the Sun to the postseason and Bonner enjoyed some big moments in the playoffs. If she does decide to continue playing, one has to imagine the Sun will have interest in a reunion. Bonner is nearing the end of her career and she may decide to sign with a team that has a better opportunity to win a championship, though.

1. Alyssa Thomas

Thomas, 32, has spent her entire WNBA career with the Sun. The Sun have endured ups and downs over the past decade, but Thomas has established herself as a star. Will Thomas truly consider leaving the only WNBA team she has ever known?

The fact is that Connecticut fell short once again in the postseason. Thomas surely wants to compete for a championship and she is going to enter free agency during the offseason. If a true championship contender attempts to sign her, one has to imagine that Thomas will at least listen to the team's offer.

Again, familiarity is important. Thomas may decide to re-sign with the Sun. However, she may want something new in the end.

The 32-year-old likely still has a number of strong seasons remaining in the WNBA and she will be among the most popular free agents during the upcoming offseason.
