Maddy Siegrist is one of five Dallas Wings players still on a rookie scale contract—an important commodity with almost every veteran set to hit free agency. Siegrist already played three seasons with the Wings and steadily improved. The 2025 season was her most productive outing yet. She averaged 12.7 points and 4.3 rebounds over 26 games.

Siegrist’s fourth WNBA season could be even more impressive, as the Wings enter a new phase. Dallas officially has a new coach—someone far more experienced and proven than Chris Koclanes was when he took over ahead of the 2025 season. That alone bodes well for the development of young players on the roster. On top of that, Siegrist will play in Unrivaled, which should help prepare her for her best WNBA season yet.

The Wings should look very different under Jose Fernandez

Jose Fernandez made it very clear in his introductory press conference that he wants to win with the Dallas Wings. That will require the Wings to make some good moves in free agency and big performances from the younger players.

Siegrist was the Wings’ third-leading scorer this past season behind only Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale. Fernandez, who has more experience putting a cohesive system in place, should be able to put Siegrist in a position to be even more productive.

Unrivaled will help with Siegrist’s development

When Unrivaled tips off in Miami, many of the best players in the game will be in one place, competing in a thrilling full-court 3-on-3 format. Unrivaled’s first season was a big success and helped players like Azurá Stevens and Angel Reese grow their games.

Siegrist is part of a sizeable group of players set to make their Unrivaled debuts this January and one of many youngsters who will benefit from the opportunity. Her Wings teammate Paige Bueckers will also make her Unrivaled debut, and Aziaha James will be a part of the development player pool.

While Bueckers is part of the youngest team in the league, Siegrist will be surrounded by great veterans to learn from. She was drafted to Laces BC and will play alongside Alyssa Thomas, Brittney Sykes, Jackie Young, Jordin Canada, and Naz Hillmon.

Siegrist will have an opportunity to compete with and against many of the top players in the W, work on her game, and enter the new WNBA season in great shape. All of that, paired with a new head coach, sets the stage for her best season with the Wings yet.
